It always baffles me how both Harry and Hermione were raised in muggle homes and they have no concept of the internet, mobile phones or email or anything, even normal non-mobile phones. Perhaps the Dursleys wouldn’t give Harry a computer, but Hermione’s parents would have surely? And there are libraries, which would have been a way for Harry to be away from the Dursleys and talk to his friends.
